Nurses can do almost any job. Here are nine we would be terrible at.
1. Hand Modeling
We have healing hands. We do not have pretty ones. Constant CHG soap and alcohol sanitizer wreck them, and no nail polish, fake nails, or glued-on decorations are allowed.
2. Foot Modeling
Same problem, lower. Feet that sweat in nursing shoes for 12-plus hours a day do not book pedicure shoots. Plantar fasciitis is real.
3. Fashion Designing
We can name the best scrub brands. Past that, our closets are scrubs and not much else. Dinner dates and parties are a styling crisis.
4. Lawyer
We have the brains for it. We do not have the patience or the poker face. Nurses are bluntly honest, so we would fold the second cross-examination started.
5. Comedian
Nurses are hilarious to other nurses. A "normal" audience would throw tomatoes. "Knock knock." "Who's there?" "HIPAA." "HIPAA who?" "I can't tell you that."
6. Car Salesman
See number 4. Our job is to help you, not to upsell you. I would tell you the car was junk, make no sale, and feel fine about it.
7. Drug Dealer
Too much pharmacology. I would list every side effect until the client walked away. Bad liars make bad dealers.
8. Pest Control
Nothing rattles a nurse like a bed bug or scabies. We suit up like a SWAT team to enter that room. We will leave the extermination to braver people.
9. Poker Player
No poker face. We would lose the bankroll fast.
Nine jobs to skip. We are good at plenty of others, which is the whole point. What would you add?
